I am a 65-year-old physician, I live and practice medicine in Texas. Over the course of my life I have built a successful medical career and raised a large blended family, but I have also known pain and struggle. A serious knee injury in my youth led to multiple surgeries, and in my 40s I became dependent on opiates to cope with chronic pain.
